You're Invited!
Dear Instructors, Competitors, Coaches, and Officials:
Okamoto’s Karate warmly invites you to attend the 2023 Alaska Open Martial Arts Championship and St. Jude’s Kick-a-Thon on May 6th, 2023. This event will feature 90 divisions of forms, sparring, and weapons, with large custom medals in all divisions for 1st to 3rd place. Participation medals will be given to all competitors who give it their all, but fall short of placing. You and your school can look forward to good competition in a friendly environment that will honor the spirit of fairness, order, and safety.
Please note that this year the Alaska Open will be held at the UAA Seawolf Sports Complex, on the UAA Campus in Anchorage, Alaska. The tournament will begin promptly at 9:30 am, with competitor check in at 8:30 am. Enclosed are tournament registration forms, please feel free to make additional copies as necessary. All registration, purchase of commemorative items and general admission tickets are available on our website: akopenmartialarts.com
Our event will also be helping to raise funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital by conducting a kick-a-thon at the tournament. We would appreciate any level of support or participation by you and/or your school. Printable Kick-a-Thon Forms, as well as a direct link to an online registration page for the kick-a-Thon are available at akopenmartialarts.com. There are a variety of awards exclusively from St. Jude’s that will be given to those who participate. It is our hope that our combined efforts will go a long way toward helping this worthy cause and show how the Alaskan martial arts community can come together to help in the search for a cure for childhood cancer.
If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact us at 907-562-5662 or at okamotoskarate@gmail.com or visit us at akopenmartialarts.com .
Warm Regards,
Yoshihiro Okamoto Tournament Director 907-562-5662 okamotoskarate@gmail.com
